Quotes and Poems about Seasons

Since this week was devoted to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), I felt it was fitting to end with happy quotes and poems about the seasons.

"The seasons are what a symphony ought to be: four perfect movements in harmony with each other."
~Arthur Rubinstein

"Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each. Let them be your only diet drink and botanical medicines."
~Henry David Thoreau

"Our seasons have no fixed return,
Without our will, they come and go;
At noon our sudden summer burns,
Ere sunset, all is snow.
~James Russell Lowell

The Twelve Months
Snowy, Flowy, Blowy,
Showery, Flowery, Bowery,
Hoppy, Croppy, Droppy,
Breezy, Sneezy, Freezy.
~George Ellis

Susan--
The full expression of the four seasons is one of the things I love most about living in Minnesota!

My Favorite:

"Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!"

CK, I like the last two as well.

Jazz, yes, I can understand that it would be nice to live where there is seasonal change.

PJ, thanks for sharing.

Dear Susan,

Thanks for sharing many valuable information about SAD. Thanks for sharing these quotes. I like the second quote, "Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each. Let them be your only diet drink and botanical medicines." Different seasons have different effect upon us and we can grow through each one of them. Life is colorful with the different seasons.

Take care and have a great weekends!

Best wishes,
Nancie

So glad to have you back. I know you've been busy adjusting to your new home, but I've missed your comments and your posts. I've come to depend upon you for my "nature fix."

susan...what is your favorite season?

Wellness Writer said...

Kara,
I would have to say summer, because that's when I feel best. I guess if I lived in a climate where there was more seasonal change, I'd love fall because of the leaves changing.

What's yours?

Mary, glad you liked it. I've never been to Southern Ontario, but I "Googled" it and it looks lovely.

Mariposa, glad you liked the quotes. Hope you have a happy weekend as well!

I would have to say fall, definitely. There's nothing like walking outside during the fall breathing in the crisp clean freash air and being surrounded by the beautiful colors that nature presents. Makes me think evrything is going to be okay...no matter what!

Kara,
I can certainly understand that!
